We are pleased to announce that Janelle Watkins will continue for a second year in her roles of PCCC Child Safety Officer and Player Welfare Officer.
The Child Safety Officer (CSO) is an initiative of Cricket Victoria to promote the safeguarding of children and young people in community sport. PCCC has adopted practices and codes established to protect children from child abuse, bullying, harassment or any other inappropriate conduct at junior sporting events. The CSO is the contact person for the child, promotes the rights of the child, and where required raises potential complaints or allegations to relevant government organisations, including the Police and Cricket Victoria.
The Player Welfare Officer (PWO) is an initiative of the Victorian Read the Play program, designed to raise awareness of mental health issues for junior members in sporting clubs. The program aims to identify and understand mental health issues, and empowers youths to seek help and to support each other’s mental health.
We encourage our children, or others with concerns about the safety or mental health of our junior members, to contact Janelle Watkins – our Child Safety Officer and Player Welfare Officer. Janelle, as a parent for over 16 years, has watched her children participate in cricket, football, basketball, music and dance. She has been involved in multiple sporting clubs, including team manager roles. Janelle believes that the most important thing she has learned through her involvement with sporting clubs is that children perform at their best when they are given the freedom to enjoy their sport. Janelle can be contacted on her mobile 0417 197 129, or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
